Partnership with Independent Schools and Family and Community Centers
C4L bridges the gap between research and instructional practices.
C4L is uniquely suited to function as Learning Center Specialists because of our extensive training and experience in multiple disciplines: School Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Neuropsychology, Special Education, and Teaching.
- Currently, we are responsible for the learning centers at two independent schools in Southern California—St. Margaret’s Episcopal School in San Juan Capistrano and St. Mary’s School in Aliso Viejo. Our presence on these two campuses has provided on-going collaboration opportunities with the administrators and teachers in order to facilitate effective communication between the school personnel and the parents. Additionally, our presence on campus creates an environment where student progress can be carefully monitored and communicated. We work with students ranging in age from preschool to the twelfth grade.
- Our Vision is to collaborate and build partnerships with independent schools in order to increase their capacities to meet their students’ needs.
- Our Mission is to provide staff development opportunities for independent school teachers and administrators based on the most current research-based practices.
- Our Role:
- C4L assists independent schools in the development and implementation of learning centers that support the student body with research-based approaches and with an emphasis on accountability to ensure the students’ needs are being addressed effectively.
- C4L assists independent schools in the development and implementation of data collection systems in order to guide restructuring efforts. Additionally, C4L provides the research expertise to examine the existing data and to provide reliable feedback and input for new initiatives.
- C4L provides assistance to independent schools' admissions offices in the selection, administration, analysis, and interpretation of standardized entrance exams.
- On campus, our centers provide:
- Comprehensive diagnostic testing.
- Educational and behavioral interventions for students with processing issues, learning disabilities, attentional issues, and organizational issues.
- Enrichment programs for gifted students.
- Individualized educational therapy.
- Kindergarten readiness programs with an emphasis on developmental reading, math, and fine motor skills.
- Parent training programs that address the student’s individual needs.
- While we have satellite centers at St. Margaret’s Episcopal School and St. Mary’s School, our central office and training facility is in Irvine, California.
